KBC Project Finance acted as sole senior lender on the successful financial close of the Auvelais Energy Storage project. The project is developed by Energy Solutions Group. KBC has previously worked with the sponsor on other transactions.

Auvelais Energy Storage is a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS). As renewable generation capacity increases, flexibility solutions are required to manage variability in power supply, particularly from wind and solar generation. BESS installations contribute to system flexibility by providing short‑term storage, fast response times and grid balancing services.

The project supports power system stability and contributes to security of supply within the context of the energy transition towards a CO₂‑neutral energy system.
