Battery Energy Storage System project: D-Stor

We’re excited to announce that KBC Project Finance has taken on multiple key roles – senior lender, interest rate hedge provider, agent, and account bank – for the Battery Energy Storage System project, D-STOR.

This 140 MWh battery energy storage system, boasting 50 MW of power, is being developed by BSTOR and Duferco Wallonie. The construction of the project began last October, with commissioning scheduled for summer of 2026.
D-STOR aims to meet the growing demand for fast regulation capacity essential for the energy transition. Among other benefits, it will help address incompressibility issues observed during periods of high renewable electricity generation. Battery parks offer instant regulation capacity, both upward and downward. Thanks to this added flexibility, they enable the grid to accommodate larger shares of green electricity.
